residual credit balance: what to do #b@a

The problem — with Bofa credit cards, if there’s a credit balance (like $67.26) for more than X (around 90) days, the system would automatically deduct that amount and send out a check. If you can receive the check you can deposit it. If you can’t then the amount is possibly lost. Even if you can call in to request a refund, the credit balance would trigger the system to repeat the same “transfer”, so you could end up in an endless loop.

Saving grace — you have record of the deduction. However, the record could be “archived” in a historical statement and lost in oblivion.

Tip — To avoid forgetting this issue, I would send or spend a 0.01 amount to the credit card, and then edit the transaction description, so I get a reminder whenever I log into the online interface.

Solution – An agent said any credit balance can be transferred to checking in 3-5 days. Must call in.

Solution – use Paypal as gateway to pay a merchant from bofa ccard, without using paypal balance

Solution – buy an Amazon gift card
